Medeiros Goes Baconing

Entrepreneurial Reporting Brings Home the WordPress Bacon

Matt Medeiros’ ascent in the WordPress community began back in 2008 when he co-founded Slocum Studio. Since then, he’s worked with tons of clients and launched a couple of podcasts. If you haven’t heard him on the Matt Report, you’ve probably been living under a rock.

While it lacks bacon, the Matt Report is definitely the #1 WordPress business podcast and we’re really excited to talk to Matt about how and why he started it. He’s a lot more pro at podcasting than we are, so we’ll also be grilling him for some podcasting tips. If you’re interested in starting your own podcast, this is definitely a Baconcast you should be watching.

We’re Trying Something New

So, since we launched our new product Audit WP the other day, this week seems like a great time to try new things. We’ve been kicking this idea around for a while and I think we’re going to give it a shot on the show with Matt.

If you have any questions or comments for us or Matt, make sure you follow the #WPBacon hashtag at 12pm tomorrow. We’ll be selecting at least one listener to join us live on the air with their question. All you have to do is tweet your questions to us and make sure you follow the @WPBacon account. We’ll DM you a link to join the hangout live and ask your question! GOOD TIMES!!

WWT#239 – Survey To Sales Boost Conversions Like Crazy

http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3/media.blubrry.com/webmaster/traffic.libsyn.com/weeklywebtools/wwt239_031014.mp3

Every now and then doing this show costs me money. Why? Because I come across a product so powerful and unique that I just have to purchase it. Today’s show (episode 239) is one of those shows. I came Across Survey Survey 2 Sale2 Sale (affiliate link) and I was like WOW!. I contacted the developer and he was nice enough to come on the show and explain it. I have this implemented at www.schoolofpodcasting.com if you want to check it out.

The Idea

You build a survey for your visitors. The more questions they answer, the larger the coupon they earn.

Why It Works

As you start to answer questions, you realize that the more you answer you more you save. Then when you run out of questions, you receive your coupon. As you have earned this coupon, you feel like you should use it. Thus conversions are going through the roof. If that wasn’t enough, when you get the coupon you also receive a count down timer showing how long the coupon will last. This splash of scarcity is the icing on the cake to get people to buy your product.

Weekly Web Tools #238 Nozbe Task Management – Patreon Pays Content Creators

Weekly Web Tools

Today I point out a very cool task management system that not only makes handling all of your project a breeze, but it integrates with sites like Evernote, Dropbox, and Google Calendar. Here is where things get cool. You can have multiple tasks added by sending ONE email to a special email address assigned to your account. All you do is separate the tasks with a period.

So it might be .bring home milk, .text wife a loving message, .call you mother and all those three items would be turned into separate tasks.

Nozbe can be used by anyone – you’ll see only the features you’ll need. Nothing more. Simple, uncluttered to-do list if you need it to be. And free up to 5 projects! If you need more, it’s only $ 8 and up.

Patreon.com The Never Ending Kickstarter

Patreon is a cool way to boost crowd funding. You can get paid on a monthly basis, or you can get paid when you release content. There are people making some pretty decent cash. You can specify different rewards for different donation amounts. These can be serious or comical. I was amazed at some of the amounts that people are pulling in. They take 8% of the donation and you get paid via paypal (I’m not sure if you have to pay paypal fees).

My only complaint, is they force you to go to the patreon website.
